Privacy policy

SousCircle is self-hosted software: your data lives on the server your household runs, not on ours.

What the app stores

Your account (email address and display name), your recipes, meal plans, grocery and pantry lists, cook log and ratings, and — if you share recipes on the hub — the anonymous handle and recipe snapshots you chose to publish. All of it is stored in the SousCircle server's database, operated by your household admin.

What leaves the server

• Kroger / Fred Meyer — if you connect your account, product searches, price checks and cart additions go to Kroger's API. You sign in on Kroger's own page; SousCircle never sees your password.
• Instacart — if configured, your grocery list's item names are sent to build a shopping-list link.
• AI clean-up — if configured, recipe text (never your account details) is sent to the configured language-model provider to tidy recipes, sort courses, and read photos.
• App stores — if you subscribe through Google Play or the App Store, the purchase is processed by the store and RevenueCat; SousCircle receives only an anonymous account reference and the subscription state, never payment details.

What we don't do

No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no selling of data. Recipe sharing on the hub is anonymous by design — your name and email are never shown to other users.

Your data, your exit

You can export everything, and your household admin can delete your account. Questions go to the person who runs your server.
